The embattled former Commander, Intelligence Response Team, Abba Kyari, has rejected food offered him by the Nigerian Correctional Service after being remanded in prison custody on Monday. The suspended Deputy Commissioner of Police, it was learnt, opted for the food prepared by his wife or other family members. Kyari, who is under prosecution for drug trafficking alongside four other policemen, was denied bail by the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja. The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency had in the charge before the court, accused Kyari and the other four officers of conspiracy, obstruction and dealing in cocaine worth 17.55kg. The trial judge, Justice Emeka Nwike, ordered the drug agency to transfer the defendants to prison custody, shortly after he denied them bail. A Senegalese teenage boy was on Friday, February 4 caught allegedly trying to slit the throat of a 3-year-old girl in an abandoned building in the city of Touba, Senegal. According to report, the 15-year-old suspect said to be an apprentice driver was spotted by the manager of an auto garage walking with the little girl at about 5pm into an abandoned building located few meters from the said garage. The manager who became suspicious alerted two of his apprentices and began to monitor the movement of the suspect. The United States Attorney’s Office at the Central District of California says that Ramon Abbas, aka, Hushpuppi, will be sentenced on February 14, 2022. The court’s Director of Media Relations, Thom Mrozek, said Hushpuppi has been scheduled for sentencing on Valentine’s Day, according to BBC Pidgin. Mrozek was, however, yet to respond to an email inquiry by The PUNCH as of the time of filing this report. In a plea agreement document sighted by The PUNCH, Hushpuppi had pleaded guilty to various offences bordering on internet scam and money laundering, among others. A midnight thief operating around Ighwreovie community in Ughelli North Local Government area of Delta State must have sustained fatal injuries after a house owner (name withheld) severely macheted his outstretched hand during the course of an operation. Focus Naija can report that the thief had successfully tore the the victim’s net but the noise made by the window blind gave him away. According to the victim, he learnt to be vigilant after surviving an attempt by burglars to gain access into his apartment sometime ago. His vigilance paid off when this particular thief, unknowing of what will befall him, stretched forth his hand to operate. Efforts to apprehend him was futile as he escaped into the dead of the night after the cut. A bullion van belonging to a yet-to-be-disclosed bank was on Thursday afternoon attacked along the Otor-Owhe section of the Ughelli/Asaba Dual carriageway in Isoko North council area, Delta State. They were unconfirmed reports the hoodlums carted away an undisclosed amount of money. It was gathered that they shot sporadically into the air and sprayed bullets on the van during a shootout with operatives. Residents were said to have scampered for safety following the heavy shootings. Fortunately, no casualty was recorded. Delta Police spokesman DSP Bright Edafe confirmed the attack. He however clarified that the money carted away were “condemned currencies which were being conveyed to the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN)”. The Borno State government on Wednesday said that it would commence the confiscation of seven properties belonging to the United Nations agencies which are domiciled in the state over tax evasion.
