PMS is not deregulated by the Federal Government, as the price is sold at between N162 and N165/litre at filling stations, far lower than the actual cost of the commodity. In June 2021, the Group Managing Director, NNPC, Mele Kyari, had stated that petrol price should be more than N280/litre, w

Between Ojukwu And Igbos Love For PDP by TooNoisy(f)

As the South East continues to clamour for the Presidency of Nigeria, it is important that we revisit how we got here and what lessons can be learnt. At the return to democracy, PDP as a party was created by the retired generals mainly of Northern extraction and policians from across the South South and South East. Though there were politicians from the South West, the majority of their politicians were in the AD. PDP had a clean sweep of the South East and got the presidency while the AD/ANPP played opposition. Ikemba Ojukwu later decided to form APGA as a pan-Igbo political party almost similar to the AD in the South West. Please note that Ojukwu is widely regarded as the greatest Igbo leader who ever lived and it was expected that APGA would begin to dominate South East politics and would turn the SE into one voting block. Ojukwu decided to run for the presidency in 2003 under APGA and the result was very disappointing. He not only came a distant third to Obasanjo and Buhari, he act

Need A Rich Man With Strong Manhood –omalicha Elom by Islie

Bold and outspoken Nollywood actress, Omalicha Elom is at it again! The light-skinned script interpreter, who always insists on not dating or marrying a younger lover, has gone a step further. Now, she has added another thing to her marriage wish list. In a recent encounter with Saturday Sun, Ms. Elom says for a man to have her for keeps, he must not only be wealthy, such a man must also be blessed with a good and strong manhood! I wish to get married this year. But I can never marry a young lover. I like older guys; three to five years older than me. I like my man being in charge and in control. I can’t be submissive to a younger lover; I’m too strong-headed. So, I like a man that will sometimes say ‘no’ to my bad habits and excess spending. Dating a younger lover would make it seem like a small child caressing my breasts. On the other hand, I can’t also date a much older man. I can’t stand the thoughts of an old man even hugging me, no matter how rich he is. My man must be wealthy, r

ASUU Ready For Total Shutdown Of Universities by MasterGift

The Academic Staff Union of Universities has again indicated that if the federal government does not implement its Memorandum of Action, MoA, by January ending, they will likely shut down universities. Speaking with Vanguarde in an interview, the Union’s president, Prof. Emmanuel Osodeke, said the union was waiting for the period of grace given to lapse before taking the necessary steps. As a responsible union, we are consulting widely on the issues at stake. We have an MoA that is yet to be implemented fully and we also have the renegotiation of the 2007 Agreement pending. A lot of groups and concerned individuals have stepped in to intervene in the matter. We are responsible unionists and citizens and we must give room to those interventions; may be they can help persuade the government to do the needful. We have given them up till the end of this January and if nothing is forthcoming, we can take the next step,” he said. It was gathered that if the union’s demands are not met, natio

If Nigeria Is Run Like Super Eagles, Most Igbos Will Never Talk Of Biafra by foryourmindnow

If a good portion of the population of Nigeria, out of all the electable candidates in the world could be comfortable voting a Buhari and talking of bringing Thiefnubu as presidential material, me as an Igbo man will never want to be part of Nigeria. Look at the Super Eagles in football. They're performing how theyre managing to perform because the call-ups are mostly on merit. Past coach was doing badly and he was sacked immediately. In Nigeria, Bullhari has broken all the indices of corruption and nepotism and cluelessness, no single call let alone motion to impeach him in the national assembly. Almost everyone there in the Super Eagles was called up because of what they can offer not tribe. And of course the Igbos and Edos are majority because they're superior in football. But when it comes to the real things in life, like developing a country and deciding one's future, Nigerians will leave competence and present certificateless dullards and people with questionable weal

I Thought Policeman Who Shot Me Was Joking When He Cocked His Gun - Victim by Ademola47(m)

I thought policeman who shot me was joking when he cocked his gun –Hospitalised Bauchi truck driver Please briefly tell us about yourself. Glory be to God, my name is Abdullahi Bello. I am a truck driver. I am from Bauchi State. What led to your being shot by a policeman? The sad incident happened around 6.20am on Monday, January 17, 2022. I was on my way to deliver a truckload of rice in one of the North-East states. Everything was okay until we got to a police checkpoint around Hashidu Junction on the Dukku-Darazo Expressway. My encounter with a particular policeman, called Ishaku, landed me here at the Federal Teaching Hospital Gombe. But I thank God the worst didn’t happen and I am getting better. What actually happened? What happened was that we had a disagreement at the checkpoint and the officer, one Inspector Urbanus Ishaku, shot me on a side of my buttocks. When we got to a stop-and-search line, smaller vehicles were in front of us. To our surprise, officer Ishaku and others a
