Labour Party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi has reacted to the recent killings in Benue State, IGBERETV reports. According to report, no fewer than 400 persons have died in three weeks following unabated killings by suspected herders in Benue State. Obi wrote on his Twitter handle; “I am deeply saddened by reports of the visceral violence and gruesome killing of the internally displaced people (IDPs) in Benue state and other parts of Benue, and the kidnapping of dozens of people in Wanzamai village in Zamfara. “Such bloodletting is unconscionable, and stands condemned. Government and all stakeholders must take extraordinary measures to address this menace that is impacting negatively on our existence as a nation. “My deepest condolences to the families and friends of all those affected. May their souls rest in peace. For those kidnapped, my earnest prayer is for their safety and quick rescue. - PO”

The spokesperson of the Delta State Police Command, Edafe Bright has fired back at Nigerian music star Paul Okoye. Okoye of the group PSquare had cried foul over the arrest of rapper, Ice Prince In a post shared via his Instagram Stories on Sunday, September 4, 2022, the singer said if a police officer enters his car and tells him to drive off, he'll assume the officer is a kidnapper. The only reason a police officer will stop you and enter your car is just because they are looking for an avenue to negotiate for a crime you did not commit," he wrote. As long as a policeman enters my car and tells me to drive, he's a criminal or kidnapper. While reacting to the post, Edafe likened Okoye to a category of celebrities without sense.  I think this is worrisome, but it tells a lot about what is wrong in this nation.  It's campaign season but I have noticed that the 2 political giants Atiku and Tinubu do things as they will without much complaints but whenever Obi does the same, huge complaints come from all angles.. I wonder is this cause he's an Igbo from the SE??  That ancient mentality that he's not right to be the president despite being the best if presented the same in a sane climate.  THIS IS NOT RIGHT..  More than 1.9 million vulnerable Nigerians are to benefit from about N38bn being disbursed as grants of N20,000 each to beneficiaries under the Grant for Vulnerable Groups programme of the Federal Government. Data released in Abuja on Friday by the National Cash Transfer Office of the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management indicated that the bank details of the over 1.9 million beneficiaries had been digitised. This came as the Humanitarian Minister, Sadiya Farouq, kicked-off the disbursement of N20,000 each to vulnerable and poor residents of the Federal Capital Territory during the commencement of the second round of the programme. Farouq re-inaugurated the programme, which hitherto was known as Cash Grant for Rural Women, as she stated that it would now be known as Grant for Vulnerable Groups in order to encourage inclusivity.
